My Family Wall

Since we have moved, I have been very reluctant to hang pictures up. I am not sure why. I think it is because I want to make sure I hang them in the right spot the first time. After all, it was A LOT of work to repaint EVERYTHING! One wall in my living room is off white. Just plain old off white. Nothing special at all. I have been thinking about what I want to do with this wall for many, many months now. My mind has changed multiple times. Hubby has said "NO" to many ideas.

I finally decided on making a family wall. I saw this cute idea on Pinterest and went from there!

I liked the idea of using my anniversary on the wall as part of my project. To get my numbers, I used a flickr site that you can find here.

I then hung up some of my favorite pictures to hang around the date. I am planning on adding to the collage when baby brother arrives, using one side for him and the other side for Holly. Hopefully I can get an updated family picture soon! (I have been wanting one for almost a year now. Can you guess which member of the family is never present?)

This is just a start. I look forward to adding and changing the wall as the years go by!

Valentine's Day 2012

I know it's not Valentine's Day anymore, but a post about it is better late than never, right? We had a great Valentine's Day this year. We were able to celebrate as a family and enjoy a meal together! With the heifers calving that does not happen much this time of year! Hubby is also busy loading out hogs and getting the barn ready for new ones. There's always something to do on the farm!

 Holly and I made a heart shaped pizza, using my homemade pizza recipe. I let her help me spread the sauce and add the toppings. She had a blast and it was great to spend the time together! I think that she will like cooking as much as me!

Holly and I got flowers at school from Daddy. She loved it! I got her from daycare so that she could see them. I wish I would have had my camera. The look on her face was priceless. She was trying to smell them and smiled when I told her they were from Daddy. She is such a Daddy's girl!

 
I also made cupcakes for Holly to take for treats to daycare and some for us at home. As you can see I did not get a chance to decorate them. Holly took off with my red frosting before I could use it! (It showed up a few days later, although I don't actually know where it was. I swear I looked everywhere for it!)

We bought David this picture. He is a very proud farmer and I thought this would be a nice tribute to that. I bought the picture online at Old West Cedar Mill.

Words of the Year

I am not one to make New Year's resolutions and keep them. It's just not me. I think resolutions are a constant nagging to do something that you most likely won't. My friend Katie @ On The Banks Of Squaw Creek inspired me to think a little differently about resolutions this year. Instead of a resolution she picked out a word of the year. She even got her hubby to pick out a word! So I started thinking about what my word could be. I came up with three words; simple, save, and assertive. (I find it ironic that simple is one of my words, yet I couldn't limit myself to one word. See what I mean?)

Simple
Who doesn't want to live more simply? I have decided that we I have too much stuff. I have also decided that I can simplify in ways other than reducing clutter. I can live a little greener. I can look for alternative ways to clean my home. I can look for inspiration on how to reuse or repurpose items I might otherwise throw away. This leads me to my second word........

Save
After the move and trying to redecorate a new house, I am more than ready to save, save, save!

Assertive
I really don't like being in the position where I can't convey what I want. I am always afraid of hurting or offending someone. I am trying to be more assertive this year. I want to be able to be more confident and tell others what I want without worrying about what they think. After all, if they have a problem with it than they're not worth worrying over, right?

Is today Wednesday?

I can't keep my days straight anymore! That's how chaotic everything feels right now. For those of you who are actually interested in my mundane ramblings, I apologize for not posting since OCTOBER! Here is a quick update on how things are going:

1. I am 33 weeks along in my pregnancy. I am excited as I am 3 weeks farther along than I was with my daughter! I am really enjoying my pregnancy and loving every minute of it! Baby brother is weighing in at about 5 pounds and I enjoy feeling his every move. I think that is definitely my favorite part of being pregnant.

2. My little girl turned 2 on December 26th. She is getting so big and learning so much! She is counting to 10 and starting to recognize shapes and letters. She talks up a storm and repeats a lot of what I say. (I suppose now is when I have to start watching what I say, huh?) She is sleeping in a real bed and we have started to potty train. I informed her the other day that she has to stay 2 years old forever. Do you think that she will listen to me?

3. I took a cake decorating class and absolutely LOVED it! I made the cake pictured above. Not too bad, huh? I am looking forward to making some cupcakes for the teachers lounge on Valentine's day!

4. I think I have had my blog for a year now. I guess this calls for a "happy blogiversary" to me! This post also is my first post of the new year. Is it too late to wish you a happy new year?

5. I work. A lot. Getting ready for a long term sub is a lot of work! Plus I am trying to update goals on all my kiddos before I am gone too.

6. I think that is it for now. As you can see I don't have a lot to update you all on.
